Via River

Coming from the Midwest, I'm often floored by the clarity of the water and the idyllic pools that suddenly plunge off of sheer cliffs and into manky, retentive, and otherwise unpleasant hydraulics.

Today in the life...

I'm learning, albeit slowly.

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, which I like to pretend I hate and detest, but every year I have to admit to myself that I am counting down the hours until it's over. What a horrid day. My father sent me a box of chocolates the night before, and fifty bucks, which was a huge treat (holding my breath waiting for payday!). Well, that ends the nice part of things. I opened my chocolates and filled my mouth with them, then tore out the door for a date. During my date, the dude tol' me we shouldn't be dating. Second time I've gotten this comment from my victims in the past three weeks. Well, after that, I knew that V-day would be the same as any other year. I can't help myself, I keep hoping someone will just sweep me away. No. This year I sat at home and went to bed early. Not only that, but I sent K an email that I never should have sent him, expecially after he said he wanted to get to know me and stay friends. It was meant to be sort of funny, but I read it later and realized that I just sounded strange; I keep noticing that I've dug myself an awfully big hole with people... and then I drop in a stick of dynamite and just blow the whole thing into a gi-normous crater. At least that way I can be sure that my work is done properly.
