Tragedy on the Driver's Side
This morning I was too defeated to photograph my car with its passenger-side window smashed into bits and the wires of my cd player hanging out. Dammit, that's twice in a month! If the injury is the cumulated theft of my snowboarding helmet, roommate's laptop, my wallet, my lunch for paddling Chili Canyon (a joy which I was also robbed of), my cd player, half a pack of American Spirits, then the added insult would be that working for Americorps is not conducive to replacing and repairing any of these articles. What paycheck? If minimum wage is $7.50 X 40 X 4 = $1200 a month, my "stipend" is nothing more than a gesture in the general direction of minimum wage!
I arrived at home tonight and found my diploma on the table. I've officially graduated from UW Madison. Congratulations, Lisa!
